DENTAL BRIDGES

DENTAL BRIDGES

Teeth are the most frequently used parts of our body. Therefore the wear and tear of the same is obvious. In some cases the wear & tear may be sooner and more drastic than expected due to certain habits/ tooth deformity by birth/decay of teeth (most common) while in the others, as a natural result of increasing age.
Crowns or caps are placed on the teeth to regain their lost appearance and function (chewing, smiling, talking etc.). With advances in the field of dentistry, today we have access to tooth-like materials in terms of strength, appearance and longevity, from which crowns are manufactured.

You may need a New Crown if your Tooth is :

  • Broken or Fractured
  • Root Canal Treated
  • Discolored
  • Needs Realignment
  • Worn out & unable to chew food effectively
  • with an old ill-fitting cap- Replacing an old, ill-fitting crown/cap is equal or sometimes more important than placing a fresh crown/cap as an ill-fitting will allow food deposits to get lodged and worsen the situation even in a root canal treated tooth.

The available Crown Materials range from :

  • Metal-free ceramics
  • Gold alloys
  • Metal alloy-fused to ceramic
  • Metal alloys
  • Acrylic resin (for temporary crowns)

The most recommended materials of today are metal-free Ceramics due to their tooth like properties of being the most compatible with gum-line, shade matching ability with natural teeth almost to perfection, high strengths, inertness (no chemical reactions) in the oral cavity & compatibility to all x-ray devices.
